Exercise 1 (due 12th Sept)
Choose a picture that is personally significant to you. It does not have to be a photo that you took or other people took of you, it can be a photo that you found from the media. Discuss how time is coded in the photo by discussing how "[history] is constituted only if we consider it, only if we look at it" (Barthes p. 65) (we will talk more of this in class).
Please attach a copy of the photo to your work. You can attach the original if you want. Be prepared to talk about it in class-every student will have to present your picture and talk about it.
